Ralph Nader said Tuesday that he is dropping out of the 2000 presidential race.

"In the past, I've said that there was no difference between George Bush and Al Gore," Nader said. "It is conceivable that I may have ... miscalculated."
Nader's announcement came after Bush's nomination of Dolores Umbridge to the Supreme Court.
"I've argued that the Democratic majority in the Senate would prevent Bush from nominating a far-right extremist," Nader said. "I may have made somewhat of a bad assumption there. Sorry."
Nader said he had been thinking about dropping out for some time.
"It's possible that Vice President Gore would not have been quite so eager to destroy America," Nader said. "I'm so very, very, very, very, very sorry.

"I'd like to transfer any votes I received in Florida so far to Al Gore," Nader said. "I hope it's not too late."
Floridian election officials have agreed to Nader's request. Vote totals for Florida now stand at 3,009,674 for Gore, and a bajillion-six for Bush, according to the state's electronic voting system.
"The State of Florida has voted for George Bush ... again", said former Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris. "God, won't you people let this go?"
